Ok, so I tried Rimmel Fix and Perfect Foundation Primer. Let’s be honest… I was looking for an inexpensive alternative to Smashbox. The Rimmel foundation primer claimed that it was a skin perfecting primer that smoothes your skin and evens out your complexion while also prolonging the wear of your foundation. So did it stand up to test? No, it didn’t!

First, it went on smooth but it looked orange. Have you ever seen someone with a bad makeup application and you could tell where the foundation began and ended? O the horror. That’s how I looked, like a bright orange mess. The primer has this really peachy/pink underbase that did not work well with my skin tone. So I looked totally orange, lol. The worst part is when I actually touched my face, the foundation felt like it was slipping off.

The great part is that Rimmel’s customer service was awesome. I actually emailed them about my dissatisfaction and they did refund my purchase amount. For now I plan on plan on shelling out extra dollars for my beloved Smashbox. Below are the ingredients and options for trying out oher Rimmel products that I adore (This foundation primer just wasn’t for me). What was your experience? Do you love it or was it a dud for you too? -Amy@BeautyKick

SpaRitual Nail Polish

February 5, 2010

Continuing on my quest to provide you with the healthiest yet flyest beauty products, meet SpaRitual. It’s the first brand of vegan nail lacquers. I discovered it sometime last year at a high end spa and fell in love. The line is free of DBP, formaldehyde and toluene. The colors are hand-blended and use the science of color therapy to soothe, seduce, nurture or ignite.

Each SpaRitual nail polish comes with the sleek, patented Plum Cap, allowing easy opening of the bottle and a non-slip grip while applying the product. SpaRitual’s signature brush is also designed to allow for precise application. The shorter brush length offers more control and accuracy of nail polish application. In addition, the bottle is crafted in Italy from reusable glass with up to 50% recycled materials and is recyclable with proper care.

Mood is one of my favorite polishes, and it reminds me of the new OPI for Sephora shade Metro Chic but with more of a magnetic look. The color shows strength and confidence, while giving an air of grace and sophistication. Mood is the ultimate winter color and it will look great on everyone, no matter what your skin tone may be. Celebrity manicurist Jenna Hipp suggests keeping your nails short when dawning Mood in order to keep you nails looking elegant yet edgy.

Check out these haute colors from SpaRitual Nail Polish Dramatic High Notes collection.
